Oishii Black started as a one-off keg poured only in the colder months at Benchwarmer, for nights when a dry, citrusy lager wasn't quite what the room wanted. Dark, roasty, and built with kinako instead of yuzu, it disappeared faster than we expected — so we made it official. A special limited release for whenever you need something with a bit more weight.
Oishii Black is a dark rice lager brewed with roasted kinako (soy flour) for a nutty, toasty character — without any of the heaviness of a stout. It pours black, drinks light, and finishes dry, like your favourite yakitori joint bottled the char off the grill.
Oishii Black is a cold-weather beer that still drinks like a lager. Reach for it after dark, alongside grilled meats, miso, anything with a bit of smoke on it. Built for the same table as Oishii Dry — just later in the night, when the conversation's slowed down and so should the beer.
Brewed in Seaford, Victoria, in the same small batches as Oishii Dry — swap the yuzu for roasted kinako and a darker malt bill, keep the same sharp eye on balance. Special Limited Release means exactly that: it comes and goes, so grab it while it's around.
